Design

The Diamond Clock is part of George Nelson’s "Desk Clocks" collection, developed between 1947 and 1953 as part of the designer’s exploration of everyday objects. The casing features a faceted, highly three-dimensional form, with the angled wooden surfaces converging toward the central dial. The result is a compact object with a powerful sculptural presence—one that shifts in appearance depending on the viewer's perspective.

Materials and Finishes

The Diamond Clock is crafted primarily from solid walnut and brass. The natural grain of the walnut enhances the faceted surfaces of the casing, while the metallic details provide a warm, refined contrast. This combination of wood and brass underscores the clock’s mid-century character, allowing it to blend seamlessly with furnishings made of wood, marble, metal, or lacquered surfaces.
