The Saarinen Conference Chair was born from Eero Saarinen's research into a new concept of comfort: a chair in which the shape of the shell, rather than simply the thickness of the padding, naturally supports the body. The profile is fluid and continuous. The backrest gently curves around the user, while the seat follows a soft geometry that accompanies posture without imposing an excessively rigid position.
Comfort and Organic Form
The backrest shell is made of molded and reinforced polyurethane, while the seat uses a curved plywood frame. This combination creates a continuous and slightly flexible shape, designed to follow the body's natural changes in posture. The padding complements the geometry of the chair without altering its slender silhouette. The backrest delicately envelops the upper body, while the shape of the seat distributes balanced support.
